Dadelszen
Editorial and campaign photography for Dadelszen, the Auckland house: a plaster wall in hard afternoon light, a vintage Mercedes outside Faradays, and a Jaguar on the street.
The brief was the cloth. Against the wall: navy flannel with a peak lapel, a suede field jacket over cream merino, a grey knitted polo, a navy one, black on black. Around the cars: a brown leather blouson and stone trousers in the Jaguar, an open cotton knit and cream trousers in the Mercedes, a long cream coat on its hanger, a navy flannel cuff, and a weekend bag packed with the labels facing up. The frames stay tight so the fabric reads at arm’s length; when a face appears it is turned away or half in shadow. The garment is the subject, the wearer is the proof it fits.
