Welcome to the world of En Foy Prest.
Objects made by En Foy Prest and chosen from makers who share its values, selected by the same eye, experience and principles that shape the design, the photographs and the writing here. The first edit is being assembled now; the shop opens soon.

The first edit
The things we love and want to bring into the world: made here, or chosen from makers whose values match our own. Nothing is on the shelf yet. The list is being put together now, and it will stay short on purpose.
One world, one set of principles.
En Foy Prest is the company of Hunter H Masfen, an industrial designer and photographer: design, photography, writing, and now a shop. None of it comes before the rest. The things sold here are the things we love and want to bring into the world, chosen with the same eye, experience and principles that shape everything else on these pages.
The same eye, at work
Design, photography and writing are where the eye is trained and the principles are tested: in rooms, on film, on the page. They are not the back room of the shop. They carry on alongside it, done the same way: slowly, in the places where things are made, with the people who make them.

Hunter H Masfen, the person behind En Foy Prest
Hunter is a man who wears many hats: an industrial designer trained at RMIT and the Politecnico di Milano, a photographer, a writer, a pilot, a ski racer turned backcountry skier, a mountaineer, someone who races and rebuilds cars and cares a great deal about food, wine and how a jacket drapes. It is this depth of interest in many things that lets En Foy Prest work.
The company grew out of his honours thesis and a year that nearly stopped it. Its first object, a sculptural amber-glass table light, was drawn in Auckland and made on a factory floor in Zhongshan. En Foy Prest is his family motto, Old French for Ready in Faith, and the studio runs on a few convictions that come with it: beauty is structural, not decorative; an object has to earn the right to stay in a room; good design is not enough.
